From 4 to 6 July 2026, the Université libre de Bruxelles hosts ÉducaLibre — a unique event bringing together all the forces working around free software and open educational resources in Europe.

Our vision

European education faces major challenges: dependency on proprietary solutions, data protection concerns, constrained budgets and stifled innovation. Educational commons and free software offer a transparent, collaborative and sustainable alternative.

Goals

• Bring together policymakers, teachers, researchers, makers and economic actors around free education.
• Share the best European practices and experiences.
• Build a lasting network of communities and initiatives.
• Formulate concrete recommendations for public policy.

Who is it for?

ÉducaLibre is open to everyone who contributes to open education: innovative teachers, educational software developers, learning resource creators, public decision-makers and entrepreneurs.

Programme

Three intensive days featuring:

• 5 simultaneous thematic tracks: public policy, pedagogy, technical administration, research and innovation, economics and entrepreneurship.
• Practical workshops: free tools, open educational resources, artificial intelligence in education, artistic and musical creation.
• Networking moments, panel discussions and demonstrations to inspire and connect all communities.
